Wimbledon Fined for Banning Russian Players
The All England Club organizer of Wimbledon 2022 tennis tournament fined $250,000 and the Lawn Tennis Association $850,000 for banning Russian and Belarusian players. In all, the amount is 1 million US dollars.
However, the decision was appealed by the All England Lawn Tennis Club (ALTC) and the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA). However, according to the rules, they have to pay the fine before any hearing.
The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) made a satisfactory decision when Russia was in trouble after receiving one ban after another in all fields. Russia has been banned from participating in the ongoing Wimbledon.
