Kane Williamson Returns to New Zealand Test Squad for England Tour 2022
New Zealand regular captain Kane Williamson has been sidelined for a long time due to an elbow injury. Could not play Test series against India and Bangladesh. However Kane Williamson returned to the field after recovering from injury as New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has included him in the squad for the Test series against England Tour 2022.
New Zealand will play a three-match Test series at home against England in June this year. The NZC has announced a preliminary squad of 20 members for the series. Michael Bracewell has been named in the squad for the first time. Also awaiting a Test debut are batsmen Cameron Fletcher and two pacers Blair Tickner and Jacob Duffy.
New Zealand will start the series with the first Test at Lord’s on June 2 this year. Before the match, the 20-member squad will be reduced to 15 members. Spinners Ejaz Patel and Hamish Rutherford are back in the squad. Ejaz Patel was dropped from the team after taking 10 wickets in an innings against India. Hamish Rutherford also returned to the team after almost six years.
The New Zealand team will play two warm-up matches against England. The Kiwis will play in the warm-up match without the cricketers in the squad who are busy in the IPL. The NZC also said that the IPL would delay the inclusion of Kane Williamson, Trent Bolt, Tim Southee, Devon Conway and Daryl Mitchell in the squad.
