Umpires for the PAK vs SL Asia Cup 2022 Final
Masudur Rahman Mukul of Bangladesh gained fame by serving as an umpire in two matches between India and Pakistan in the Asia Cup. Bangladeshi Umpire Masudur Rahman is also in the Asia Cup 2022 final as a reward for his consistent performance; India’s Anil Chowdhury will accompany Mukul as the on-field match official in the PAK vs SL final.
Bangladesh could not play Super Four in this year’s Asia Cup. Bangladesh left after losing two matches in the group stage. Even though Bangladesh is not on the playing field, Masudur Rahman Mukul is performing his duties with great reputation as a field judge.
Mukul is getting praise for his cool-headed responsibilities and decision-making even in the exciting India-Pakistan match. This time he was placed in the final as his reward. Which is the first time that a Bangladeshi umpire is going to perform the duty in a final of the highest level multinational tournament outside the country.
Mukul has so far umpired in 26 international T20 matches. He was the onfield umpire in 18 matches. And the Bangladeshi umpire has served 17 times in ODI matches. The final match of this year’s Asia Cup will start on Sunday (September 11) at 8 pm Bangladesh time. In that match, Pakistan and Sri Lanka will enter the field with the aim of winning the title.
Despite losing the first match of the tournament, Sri Lanka reached the final by winning all the remaining matches. On the other hand, Pakistan, who started the season with a loss to India, defeated their arch-rivals Afghanistan in the Super Four and secured the final by defeating Afghanistan.
Pakistan lost to Sri Lanka in the last match of the Asia Cup Super Four before the final. Sri Lanka won by 5 wickets in the ‘rehearsal’ match before the final.
With Pakistan and Sri Lanka making it to the finals, there is no new title holder this time. Because Sri Lanka has won the title five times except India who have won the Asia Cup maximum seven times. Pakistan has won the title twice.
