Jos Buttler to Lead England ODI and T20 Teams 2022
England’s Wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler named as the new captain of England Cricket team and will lead both ODI and T20 teams 2022. This information has been confirmed in a press release of ECB on Thursday (June 30).
Buttler has been approved as captain on the recommendation of ECB interim chairman Martin Darlow, interim chief executive Claire Connor and managing director of England men’s cricket Rob Key.
Jos Buttler made his Twenty20 international debut for England in 2011 and made his ODI debut a year later. The English wicketkeeper and batsman has been the team’s vice-captain since 2015. He has also led the team in 14 matches (9 ODIs, 5 T20s).
Jos Buttler, the new captain England Captain, has played 151 ODIs for England so far. Where 4,120 runs came from his bat at an average of 41.20. Buttler has 10 centuries in ODI cricket. He has also scored 2,140 runs in 6 international Twenty20s at an average of 34.51. He has a record of scoring a century for England in all three formats. Two in Tests and one in T20.
Buttler is happy to lead the team. “It is an honor to be the captain of the country. I like to lead. I look forward to taking the team forward. ”
Expressing gratitude to former captain Morgan, Buttler said: “I would like to express my sincere thanks and gratitude to Morgan for his outstanding leadership of the England cricket team over the last seven years. This was a memorable time for more or less everyone. He was an inspiring leader and the game under him was great. ”
He added: “I have learned a lot from Morgan, which will make my job easier. It is a great honor to take responsibility from him. He has left the leadership at a time when the country is having a great time in limited overs cricket. I look forward to taking on the challenges ahead. ”
England will play an ODI series against India on July 12 this year. With that series, a new journey will start under Buttler. England have played 72 Twenty20 matches under Sabine leader Ian Morgan. Where there were 48 wins. England have lost 26 of the remaining matches. No result in two matches.
