T20 World Cup 2022: Indian Pacer Jasprit Bumrah Ruled Out of Tournament Due to Back Injury

Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah suffered a serious back injury; As a result, the Jasprit Bumrah Ruled Out of T20 World Cup 2022. Jasprit Bumrah went to Bangalore to undergo a scan to know the injury condition better.

An official of the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) confirmed this to the Indian news agency Press Trust of India (PTI). Bumrah may have to stay out of the field for up to six months due to such an injury.

The BCCI official told PTI, “It is certain that Bumrah will not play in the T20 World Cup. His back injury is serious. There is a stress fracture, he may be out of the field for six months.”

Meanwhile, if Bumrah is left out of the official announcement, India will have to take a pacer from the reserves for the World Cup in his place. There are two pacers in the reserve list. They are – Mohammad Sami and Deepak Chahar.

The World Cup squad can be changed without ICC permission before October 15. Even before the BCCI confirmed Bumrah’s exclusion, one more omission from the announced squad was confirmed. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has already been ruled out due to injury. Jadeja replaced him with Akshar Patel.

Reserves: Mohammad Sami, Shreyas Iyer, Ravi Bishnoi and Deepak Chahar.
