David Warner Returns to BBL 2022-23 After 9 Years

After nine long years, David Warner is once again creating a name for himself in Australia’s Big Bash League – BBL 2022-23. David Warner has signed a two-year contract with the Big Bash League franchise Sydney Thunders.

In December and January, South Africa will go to Australia to play a Test series. Warner will join the franchise following his last Test match in Sydney. Will play five matches there for the Sydney Thunders.

Warner may have further opportunities to play for Sydney Thunders. Consequently, his team should go to the final. If not, he will have to settle with playing five matches in the Big Bash’s comeback season.

Warner’s previous Big Bash appearance was in December 2013. He would not have a chance even this time. Nonetheless, the South African squad was afforded this opportunity during the ODI series against Australia. Warner announced his intention to play in the UAE league after the cancellation of the series. Cricket Australia (CA) prohibited him from participating in the Big Bash.

However, the 35-year-old player attributes their participation in the Big Bash to their children. He stated, “My girls have shown a desire to see me play at home and in the BBL. It’s wonderful to be a part of the BBL as a family, and we look forward to share this experience with them.”

David Warner, who has participated in nearly every franchise league in the globe, has played 328 T20Is and scored 10,870 runs at a rate of 38.27 runs per game. He amassed eight centuries and ninety-one half-centuries.
