Babar Azam Becomes Fastest Asian Batsman to Score 10000 Runs

Pakistan captain Babar Azam created another new record with the bat. Babar Azam has set a record of 10000 runs as fastest Asian batsman in international cricket.

Babar made this record by scoring in the first match of the two-Test series against Sri Lanka. Pakistan also fell into danger by stopping the hosts a little bit. Captain Babar stood as a shield when the Pakistani batsmen were returning to the dressing room one after another under the pressure of the Lankan spinners.

Before batting in this match, Babar’s collection in three formats was 9979. 21 runs were required to become the fastest Asian to reach 10,000 international runs. In 26.6 overs of the innings, the Pakistan captain touched the milestone of 10,000 runs in international cricket by hitting a great four off the host spinner Praveen Jayasuriya.

He reached this milestone in the 228th innings across three formats. Earlier, Indian batsman Virat Kohli scored the 10,000 international runs in 232 innings in Asia. Besides, Indian batsmen Sunil Gavaskar reached this milestone in 243 innings and Sourav Ganguly in 253 innings.

This record was held by the legendary Javed Miadad in Pakistan. All formats in 248 innings touched the milestone of 10,000 international runs.

Asia’s fastest batsman Babar Azam is fifth in the list of fastest 10000 international run scorers in cricket history. Former West Indies legendary batsman Sir Vivian Richards (206 innings) is at the top of this list.

Former South African batsman Hasim Amla (217) is in second place, former legendary West Indies batsman Brian Lara is in third place (220) and English batsman Joe Root (222 innings) is in fifth place in the list.

Babar Azam has been shining with the bat since his debut. The number one batsman in the ranking of ODI and T20 batsmen is releasing a basket of runs with the bat at an equal pace in all three formats.

Pakistan skipper’s bat is breaking one record after another due to continuous run flood. Babar has so far scored 2851* runs in 40 matches in 72 innings in Pakistan jersey at an average of 45.98 (till writing this report). Where he has six centuries as well as 21 half-centuries.
