BPL 2023: Curtly Ambrose Visits Bangladesh After a Long Time to Join Commentary Panel

Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) has always lacked quality commentators. There has been a lot of criticism about this. But this time West Indies legendary pacer Curtly Ambrose visit Bangladesh to join the the commentary panel in BPL 2023.

Seeing him, many people started thinking that he can become the coach of the Bangladesh team. Ambrose himself is the one who broke the mistake. He said, “I have not come here to play cricket. I am coming to comment on BPL.” Ambrose is definitely a big star in this starless BPL.

The devastating right-arm pacer is now 59. He was the name of fear to the batters of the player’s life. This long-bodied bowler of six feet and seven inches was the name of fear for many. Ambrose is not the first on commentary. He was also in front of the microphone during the West Indies tour of Bangladesh in June-July last year.

The Caribbean pacer played only two ODIs in Bangladesh in 1999. Among the best pacers of all time, Ambrose will definitely be at the top. He played 98 Tests and took 405 wickets in his career. 225 wickets in 176 ODIs. T20 format was not introduced during his time.

Sydney Thunders Holds Record for the Lowest Team Total in T20

BBL 2022-23: Sydney Thunders Holds Record for the Lowest Team Total in Men’s T20 History

In the on going Big Bash League BBL 2022-23, Sydney Thunder, the league’s highest title club, was bowled out for just 15 runs against Adelaide Strike registering a shameful record for the lowest team total in T20 history.

In the fifth match of the Big Bash 2022-23 season, Sydney Thunder, the most successful club in the league, folded before 6 overs of the power play. Thunder’s 10 wickets ended in 15 runs off just 35 balls in this world’s best league. But the team has a World Cup winning opener like Alex Hales and a devastating batsman like Riley Russo.

Rashid Khan’s Adelaide striker won the toss and elected to bat first at the Sydney Snow Ground Stadium. Apart from Chris Lynn and Colin de Grandhomme, none of the batsmen scored 20 runs. Lin’s 36 from 27 balls and Grandhomme’s 33 runs from 24 balls put the scoreboard of the strikers at 139 for 9 wickets.

Afghan bowler Fazle Haque Farooqui took 3 wickets for Sydney Thunder. Besides, three Aussie bowlers Gurinder Sandhu, Daniel Sam and Brendan Doggett took 2 wickets each.

In response, the best T20 batsmen in the world like Alex Hales, Riley Russo saw the Adelaide striker bowling cannon from the start. Two openers Alex Hales and Matthew Gilkes returned to the pavilion without opening the run book.

Subsequent batters were also unsuccessful. No one could play more than 1 over. The highest individual score in the innings was only 4. And the second maximum additional 3 5 batters back to Sajghar for zero runs.

However, the bowling attack on this day was not the world’s best leg spinner Rashid Khan. Alex Hales’ team finished last with three unknown Aussie bowlers.

Matthew Short, Wes Agar and Thornton’s devastating bowling gave the 4-time BBL champions a bitter taste of defeat in a humiliating loss of 124 runs. Henry Thornton was man of the match with 5 wickets for just 3 runs

This is the record for the lowest run in men’s T20 history. The previous record for the lowest score was held in a match between Turkey and the Czech Republic. Turkey was bowled out for 21 runs against the Czech Republic in the 2019 match.

And, the lowest run total in all T20Is is 6, but that is in women’s T20I matches. The lowest totals are Maldivian women and Mali women.

Bangladesh Premier League – BPL New Logo 2023

BCB Unveils Bangladesh Premier League – BPL New Logo 2023

BPL and controversy are like each other’s companions as about a month and a half left to build the ninth season. But before that, the country’s only franchise T20 tournament is controversial in various cases. BPL faces a lot of criticism after unveiling the new logo for the Bangladesh Premier League 2023.

However, clarification has been given from the BPL Governing Council. The ninth season of BPL will be played in the first week of January. With that in mind, the players’ draft was held on November 23 at La Meridien Hotel in the capital. The new logo was also unveiled on the same day.

A few days ago, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) posted on their own page through social media. Later, the audience was asked for votes in a different post with pictures of four selected logos.

But the question arises about the quality of four logos. A logo of a professional organization like BCB being so mediocre has led to negative discussions. The quality of the final logo that was unveiled today also did not attract many viewers. But the BPL governing council says the logo was created by designers working with the ICC and other major franchises.

In this regard, member secretary of BPL Governing Council Ismail Haider Mallik said to journalists after the draft.

“Our logo in BPL is new, starting from the ninth season. We are the media, the audience… we can be contacted in all the places including our Facebook page, Twitter… the audience had a demand for us to create a logo that is up-to-date. In light of that, first we take logos from some designing houses.”

Not that we like them too much.. still we take from some international agencies. Those whose logo is selected design logos for international events, other clubs, franchises, including the ICC. We like this logo, we have selected it after getting quite a good response.’
