The ACB (Afghanistan Cricket Board) has released its Asia Cup 2022 team. Afghanistan will send their Twenty20 International skipper Mohammad Nabi to the upcoming Asia Cup in 2022. Now in charge of leading the team from the front, Nabi has also risen to the top of the ICC Men’s T20I All-Rounder Rankings.

The six countries can be divided into two categories (A and B). Group B consists of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. In the 27th inaugural match at Dubai International Stadium, Afghanistan will take against five-time champion Sri Lanka.
Although it is capable of pulling off major upsets against the best squad, Afghanistan has yet to achieve anything of consequence. Afghanistan beat Bangladesh, the tournament’s runner-up, in the previous Asia Cup.
To earn a spot in the Asia Cup 2022, the Afghans will have to fight against the best this year. In 2022, when the Asia Cup is hosted in the United Arab Emirates, the starting eleven for Afghanistan will be made up entirely of locals. Historically, Afghan cricketers have used this pitch extensively.
This year in Twenty20 Internationals, Afghanistan has beaten the Netherlands 3-0 at home, Zimbabwe 3-0 on the road, and Bangladesh 2-1 away from home.
Along with Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan, a leg-spinner who can also bat in the middle order and contribute throughout the crucial middle and death overs, will be under intense scrutiny. Among T20I bowlers, Rashid Khan is presently placed at #4.
