ACC Confirmed UAE to Host Asia Cup 2022

The Asia Cricket Council ACC stated that the 2022 Asia Cup will be hosted in the UAE – United Arab Emirates, however Sri Lanka will serve as the host nation. President of the ACC Joy Shah stated that all efforts were made to organize Sri Lanka. The tournament’s organization had to be relocated to the United Arab Emirates.

The Sri Lanka Cricket Board has previously communicated that it is not viable for their country to host the Asia Cup 2022 owing to political and economic circumstances. However, there were a number of ongoing debates regarding where it will be hosted in the future. Finally, this is also known. Sri Lanka Cricket will host the Asia Cup-2022 in the United Arab Emirates since it cannot do it in Sri Lanka.

Shammi Silva, the president of the Sri Lankan cricket board, stated that Sri Lanka has spared no effort in hosting this international competition. However, given the circumstances, it has been deleted. The United Arab Emirates will host the Asia Cup for the second time in five years. Prior to this, the country hosted the final Asia Cup tournament in 2018.

Before the main tournament, the Asia Cup qualifications were set to take place from August 20 to 26. However, the ACC has not yet finalized the venue for this portion of the tournament. Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan will compete in the Asia Cup’s main phase. Hong Kong, Singapore, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates will participate in the qualifying matches. One of these four teams will compete in the championship round.
